Crop yield is a term in agriculture meaning the output of the crop for a given area of land.
It can also mean the seed generation of a plant, with 1:3 consisted the minimum yield to sustain human life (one seed to feed the human, one seed to feed the livestock, and one remaining seed for the next planting season). A significant surplus occurs at a seed generation of 1:5.
