Templates

Iduan, I was contemplating creating some templates to apply to some of the chemistry articles in the (distant) future. Do you make them using HTML or is there wiki markup? Is there some where I can learn the markup? I'm generally good with this sort of stuff so you don't have to baby me or anything, I'm just not really sure where to look.
