Green Lantern

Green Lantern is the name of a superhero used by 5 people, published by DC Comics. Each Green Lantern has a green ring that gives them the powers of flight, green energy beams and longevity. The Green Lantern powers are useless against anything that is yellow.

Alan Scott

The first Green Lantern, Alan Scott, was created by Batman co-creator, writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. He first made his debut in All American Comics #16, published in July 1940. This one is called the "Golden Age Green Lantern." In stories from the 1980s to the present, Scott was established as the Earth-Two Green Lantern.

Hal Jordan

The most famous Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, first made his debut in Showcase #22, published in September 1959. Jordan was a USAF test pilot who got his ring (and his powers from a dying alien he discovered on one of his tests. This one is the most-often seen, appearing in crossover comics, television animation, and video games.

Guy Gardner

The third Green Lantern, Guy Gardner, was introduced in 1968. In his most well-known appearances, he is a brash, rude man, but still a hero.

John Stewart

The first African American Green Lantern, John Stewart, was introduced in 1971. He is best known for his appearance in the animated TV show Justice League.

Kyle Rayner

The fifth Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner, was introduced in 1994 during the "Emerald Twilight" storyline.
