Swing district

A swing district is a legislative district that can be won by a Republican or a Democrat, based on voters' party registration or past election outcomes. This type of district is in contrast with a "safe district" for which, typically due to gerrymandering, one side or the other is virtually guaranteed to win no matter what happens politically.
