A caladium is a plant that is grown as a garden ornamental for its large leaves marked with red, pink, or white. It grows from a tuber and is a perennial, although it is often grown as an annual because it is not winter-hardy in most of the United States. In fact, it is winter-hardy only to zone 10. All parts of the caladium are poisonous.
