Cumbria is a county for the purposes of lieutenancy in the North West of England. It covers the entirety of the counties Cumberland and Westmorland, as well as the Furness peninsula of Lancashire, plus a small area of north west Yorkshire around Sedbergh. Prior to 2023, Cumbria was also the name of a council area, said council area now being split into Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council.
Cumbria also contains the western end of Hadrian's Wall.
