Deep State is a shadow government, typically influential members of government agencies or the armed forces, believed to be involved in the secret manipulation or control of government policy and the Main Stream Media.
For several years, the phrase “deep state” had been mostly consigned to the Alternative Media, but in February 2017, since Donald Trump made public his fight with the intelligence community, it has been reported in the main stream media. The “deep state” reportedly plans to dismantle the Trump administration, with NSA intelligence analyst John Schindler warning that a friend in the “intelligence community” told him that Trump “will die in jail.”

According to Amanda Taub and Max Fisher from the New York Times, "deep state" is "where shadowy networks within government bureaucracies, often referred to as 'deep states,' undermine and coerce elected governments."[2]
Bill Kristol, the prominent Republican analyst who founded The Weekly Standard, wrote on Twitter, "Obviously strongly prefer normal democratic and constitutional politics. But if it comes to it, prefer the deep state to the Trump state."
