James Dean in East of Eden (1955)

James Dean (Feb 8,1931 - Sept 30, 1955) was a popular American actor who died in a car crash at age 24, at the peak of his fame. His style of innocent yet brash masculinity was an imitation of Marlon Brando. Germaine Greer says Dean was gay. [1][2]

Two of his better-known roles were in the films "Giant" (1956) and "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955).[3]
