Makemake is a dwarf planet in the solar system that was discovered by a team of astronomers led my Mike Brown in March 2005.
Its name refers to a god in the mythology of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island. According to their beliefs, Makemake was the creator of humans and the god of fertility.
