The Open-Carry Movement is a political campaign advocating the freedom to openly carry a loaded gun for self defense purposes. Open-Carry supporters argue that since the Second Amendment) as interpreted in Heller recognizes an individual right to own and possess a gun (handgun, rifle or shotgun) in their home, then they should also have the right, which they do, to carry their weapons in the open without having to hide them away.

This United States political movement has gained popularity in the particularly in the states of Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Texas and Oregon.
