I corrected a howling inaccuracy that was based on ignorant eisegetical reading of Acts and Matthew. See Diff. My apology with all due respect to whomever is responsible for such an ignorant falsehood. This is proof that so often it happens that some persons reading the Bible simply cannot see what is plainly in front of them on the page, and is staring them in the face. Judas had custody of the money box, and was a thief who took what was in it (John 12:6). The money the priests paid Judas was given to him as agreed (Mark 14:10-11), and was Judas' money, which he had received, and it was indeed used to buy "the field of blood, Aceldama", but only indirectly, since the priests used the money they had given him, and which now was his own money as his "wages of wickedness", which he had brought back to them and thrown into the temple treasury, to buy, with Judas' money, "the field of blood, Aceldama". He may have originally put it into the money box, which seems hardly likely, or he may have kept it separate for himself alone so the others would not know, which seems most probable—whichever it was, the Bible does not say. Additional funds from the money box were not used to purchase the field, only the 30 pieces of silver he had received. It was his money that bought the field. Acts 1:18 says clearly that Judas "falling headlong burst open in the midst and all his bowels came out". The Bible nowhere says that, after Judas went and hanged himself, he was cut down by anyone. --Dataclarifier (talk) 03:16, 18 May 2019 (EDT)
