Vivek Kundra is the first Chief Information Officer of the United States of America, informally referred to as Barack Hussein Obama's "Technology Czar"[1] or "Information Czar."[2] Like many of the other Obama administration czars, Kundra's responsibilities are ill-defined, and he is apparently accountable to no one except the president. However, they are likely to include some degree of involvement with internet policy; Glenn Beck mentions Kundra's czar position to be, "Basically in charge of overseeing other federal agency CIOs and for setting technology policy across the government."[2]
Kundra was born in New Delhi, India and immigrated to the United State when he was 11. He previously worked under the administration of Tim Kaine, the governor of Virginia, and, like many other Obama appointees, for Obama's 2007-9 presidential campaign. Vivek Kundra has a masters from Maryland in information technology.
