Anita Thigpen Perry (born March 5, 1952) is the wife of Rick Perry, the Republican former governor of Texas and the United States Secretary of Energy. She was First Lady of Texas from December 21, 2000, to January 20, 2015.
A native of Haskell, north of Abilene in West Texas, and the daughter of a country physician, First Lady Perry was trained and practiced as a nurse. In 2008, Texas Tech University in Lubbock renamed its nursing school her honor.
She procured her bachelor's degree in nursing from the then West Texas State University, now West Texas A&M University in Canyon, south of Amarillo. She holds a master's degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
