If we accept homosexual marriage on the basis that a same-sex "romantic" relationship is just as potent and valid as the traditional (conjugal) love between a man and a woman, then we absolutely must not allow gay men to serve in the same combat unit as heterosexual men. The hazard of fraternization is too high, and the special bond between lovers would tend to undermine unit cohesion.

For intimate lovers, the good of one's love object trumps all other considerations. This is not the sort of relationship that can subordinate itself to the ethics of active police work, let alone combat with enemies who are trying to destroy America's freedom.
