On July 2, 2025 Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian approved the law on suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Iranian investigators and the parliament determined that the IAEA shared information about the identities and home address of nuclear scientists with the Israeli intelligence service, the Mossad.[1] Israel is not a member of the IAEA. The Israeli government killed at least 13 Iranian nuclear scientists connected with the nuclear program in the opening hours of Operation Rising Lion in a swift decapitation strike.
On September 9, 2025 Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi signed a new agreement in Cairo, Egypt, aimed at restarting nuclear inspections in Iran under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) safeguards agreement with the IAEA.
