Jean-Jacques Dessalines (September 20, 1758 - October 17, 1806) was a Haitian revolutionary that later became Emperor of Haiti from 1804-1806. His most infamous moment was ordering the Haitian massacre in 1804 which killed 3,000-5,000 French men, women, and children to wipe out White people from his country. Jacques I ruled Haiti with an iron fist until his assassination two years into his reign in 1806.
