Larry Tye
Larry Tye is an American author and journalist. He has written about prominent American figures, including Satchel Paige, Bobby Kennedy, and Edward Bernays.
Early Life and Education
Larry Tye was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Brown University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in American studies. Tye later received a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University.
Journalism
Tye began as a journalist, working for several newspapers including the Boston Globe, where he covered health and science.
Author
Tye went from journalism to historical works, focusing on biographies and historical non-fiction. His work, The Father of Spin: Edward L. Bernays and the Birth of Public Relations (1998), goes into the life of Edward Bernays, the pioneering figure in public relations.
Tye's subsequent books include Satchel: The Life and Times of an American Legend (2009), a biography of the baseball player Satchel Paige, and Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon (2016), which covers the life and political career of Robert F. Kennedy.
