The Modern Genocide of Christians primarily refers to the Muslim systematic persecution and violence against Christian communities, in 20th and 21st centuries, particularly in regions like the Middle East and parts of Africa. Also a Communist Genocide is occurring in North Korea and persecution is occurring China.[1]. All are still occurring today!

Genocide in Iraq

Since the fall of Saddam in 2003, Muslim murders of Christians have gone unpunished! Iraq had over 1.5 million Christians in 2003, mostly in the Chaldean, Syriac[2], Assyrian[3] and Armenian churches. Today as an result of the Genocide and the kidnapping & rapes of Christian girls, only a few thousand remain. Christians in Iraq enjoyed protection and near-equal rights with Iraq’s Muslim majority under Saddam [4]. The lucky ones have resettled in far-flung places like Australia, Canada and Sweden, as well as neighboring countries.

Genocide in Libya

The Muslim genocide of Christians in Libya today has been marked by systematic persecution, including mass killings, forced conversions, and other violent acts primarily by extremist groups. This situation escalated significantly after the fall of the Gaddafi regime in 2011, leading to a dramatic decline in the Christian population and ongoing threats to those who remain[5].

Genocide in Nigeria

Map of religions in Nigeria
Muslim groups such as Boko Haram and Fulani militants have been targeting Christians for many years. This ongoing conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and has been described as a silent genocide against the Christian population in the country[6]. Kidnapping of Christian girls and rapes have also increased, even though the population is about 49 percent Christian[7][8].

In November 2025, the President of USA warned the Nigeria government over the the murders[9][10]. The Nigeria has claimed it is finally sending troops to protect its Christian villages[11].

Possible Solution to the Nigerian Genocide.

Divide Nigeria into two nations just like Sudan was divided in 2011 into Muslim Sudan and Christian South Sudan. Cyprus was split in 1974 into Christian Cyprus and Muslim Northern Cyprus. As you can see with this map over 90% of the Christians are in South Nigeria and over 90% of Muslims are in North Nigeria. Just like Sudan the few Nigerian Christians in the North could move South and the few Nigerian Muslims in the South could move North.

Genocide in Somalia

Christians in face severe persecution, often risking their lives today, due to their faith, as the country is predominantly Muslim and has a strong Islamist militant presence, particularly from groups like al-Shabaab. Many Christians are killed upon discovery, and those who are not may suffer from family and community rejection, forced marriages, or violence[12].Some have fled to Somaliland or Ethiopia. Somaliland is break away part of Somalia, self governing since 1991, but its not international recognized[13][14].

Genocide in Sudan, UN divided nation in 2011

The situation for the few Christians that remain, in Muslim Sudan, is still dire today. Do to the Genocide occurring in the Sudan prior to 2011 and under pressure from the US and Europe. The UN divided the nation in 2011 creating the Christian nation of South Sudan, [15]. The few Christians left behind in Sudan face extreme persecution, including violence, displacement, and still targeted attacks by both government forces and extremist groups. The lucky Christians make it to South Sudan. The ongoing civil war between Muslim tribes has exacerbated these conditions.[16][17]

Genocide in Syria

The modern genocide of Christians, by Muslims, in Syria has been marked by systematic violence, including massacres and forced conversions, particularly during the Syrian civil war and the rise of extremist groups like ISIS. This persecution has led to a dramatic decline in the Christian population, with many fleeing the country due to threats to their safety and existence[18]. Since fall of Assad regime in 2024[19]the murders and rapes seem to have increased, and continue today.

Genocide in Soviet Russia

More Christians were murdered in Soviet gulags than Jews in Nazi concentration camps Between 1921 and 1950, upwards of 15 million Christians died in Soviet prison camps. Another five million died between 1950 and 1980 [20][21].

Genocide in North Korea

The situation for Christians in North Korea from 1950 to today is dire, including imprisonment in family death camps, torture, and execution. The North Korean regime views Christianity as a threat to its authority, leading to rights violations against Christians[22][23].
