• Asymmetric Coverage: Intense, continuous media reporting on Israeli military operations or political affairs, contrasted against minimal coverage of deadly civil wars, ethnic cleansing, or famines in regions like Sudan, Syria, Yemen, or Myanmar. Media critics noted this dynamic during the 2025–2026 Syrian conflict, arguing that Western coverage largely ignored the reign of terror inflicted by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) because it lacked a Jewish or Israeli angle. Similarly, commentators pointed out that human rights abuses by the Taliban in Afghanistan, such as the abduction of women over dress code violations, failed to generate comparable international headlines or outcry.

• Selective Activism and Public Protests: Global public mobilization, boycotts, and university demonstrations have focused narrowly on Israel's actions in Gaza while completely sidelining major emergencies in other parts of the world. In May 2026, political satirist Bill Maher dedicated a "New Rules" segment on his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher to the phrase, titled "New Rule: No Jews, No News." Maher reminded that intense public fixation on Israel, contrasted with total silence on severe human rights abuses in China, Russia, Sudan, Iran, Myanmar, Haiti, the Congo, and North Korea, exposed a core ideological hypocrisy and modern antisemitism. He criticized both left-wing progressives and right-wing commentators for normalizing extreme rhetoric against Jewish people while ignoring larger global tragedies.
