Eastern Orthodox view:
"In Eastern Orthodox theology, the term "only-begotten Son" (or "only-begotten Son of God") refers to Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity. It signifies that Jesus is eternally begotten by the Father, not created, and is of the same divine essence (homoousios) as the Father. This contrasts with the idea of creation, emphasizing Jesus' unique and eternal relationship with the Father within the Trinity."[1]
