::::::JohnZ, you're making a lot of circular assumptions in your statement.  Most of the non-believers hear his message but reject it.  Are you implying that God should force everyone to accept him?

::::::The incoherence of atheism becomes clearer when its objections are taken to their logical conclusions.  Often they are of the form, "if God is all-powerful, then why doesn't he do such-and-such?"  But sporting events that last only 60 seconds (or where the referees ensure that one side will win) are not interesting to atheists, so it's illogical to think they'd be interesting to God.--Andy Schlafly (talk) 19:43, 22 November 2018 (EST)

This is indeed an excellent example!
Andy, this is an excellent example for your way of "translating": you start with the meaning (LeBron won a certain championship while he was a Cavalier), and then you give an English phrase accordingly ("A championship was won by LeBron as a Cavalier.")
 +
 +
There is nothing wrong about this, if you are writing your own bible ("The Gospel according to Andy"). But when you are translating God's word, you should start with the meaning given by the Greek text. That is not what you are doing. You start with your infallible insight: Jesus wants to tell us that He is The Son [of God] and A Human Being. Then you look up the big words in a lexicon and fill in the little words (which are omitted because of the Greek grammar of which you know too little) according to your insight.
 +
 +
And this is just crazy. If you are challenged on your "translation", you shop around the net and present any result which could be stretched to make your case. Here, you say that Matthew could have used the  genitive epexigetically. And there you stop. If you were really interested in translating the actual words, you should have asked you the question: "Does Matthew use this construction somewhere else?" and "How does Matthew usually convey appositions?"
 +
 +
But this would need some actual work on your side other than musing about a text waiting for further insights. Furthermore, I think it is beyond your knowledge of Greek.

Again, thanks for this insightful example!
