Fair housing laws and anti-discrimination in employment did more to desegregate schools long term than forced busing.
[[Affirmative action]], like forced busing, is a vestige of liberal activism from the 1960s. Like busing, it's not enough to end discrimination in hiring, or allow parents to live in whichever school district they desire. Liberal activists want change now by the heavy hand of government.
