Only about 50,000 Jews in Germany after 1939 were killed in the holocaust because most had emigrated by 1939; the millions who did perish came from Nazi-occupied territories ''after'' the war had started - from Poland, Ukraine (in those days it was largely known as "Russia" or the USSR), the Baltics, France & [[the West]], and other German occupied territories or Axis allies.
