Days before Kirk's fuberal, 42-year-old man, Joshua Runkles, was arrested at the Charlie Kirk memorial event at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on September 19, 2025. Runkles, who was armed with a loaded pistol, a revolver, and knives, had posed as a law enforcement officer, claiming to be part of a security detail for Turning Point USA. Initially turned away at the gate, he later managed to sneak into the stadium. Authorities discovered his badge and identification were fake, and he was no longer employed by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Despite the serious charges, Runkles was released on bond.
