Super Bowl LVI (2022) is being hosted in SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, February 13. SoFi is the most expensive stadium ever built at a cost of more than $5 billion. SoFi Stadium is the home of both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, one of only two NFL stadiums shared by two NFL teams.

For the second time in Super Bowl history (and, interestingly, the second consecutive year) a team will play in its own home stadium hosting the game: the Los Angeles Rams (who will take on the Cincinnati Bengals).

Parking is very expensive for championship games there, about $500 (!) for a few hours at a garage.[1] Meanwhile, the NFL extracts numerous subsidies from taxpayers for this annual event. Part of the special deal for the NFL is typically a waiver of all sales taxes for goods and merchandise sold at the event.

The halftime performers will be the Los Angeles rappers Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, plus Eminem and the R&B singer Mary J. Blige.

Attendees will be required to wear masks except when eating or drinking. Proof of vaccination or a recent negative test for COVID-19 are required to be admitted to the stadium for the game.

The 2021 Super Bowl was the least-viewed since 2007, notching only 96.4 million viewers worldwide according to ratings that may generally be inflated as to attentive viewers rather than background noise. Despite this decline, the broadcaster has increased the price of a 30-second ad to $6.5 million for Super Bowl LVI.
