With McCabe's a assession to the Directorship, we can probably make two assumption forecasts: (1) his tenure will be relatively short-lived, and (2) there will now be leaks from the actual FBI Trump-Russia files themselves.
How long should Dir. McCabe serve? Absent recusing himself because he's under investigation, one option would be to allow him to serve til IG report comes out. The McCabe tragedy
In sum, McCabe held the Clinton Foundation investigation open after he whitewashed the email investigation. He was pressured by a senior DOJ official (Sally Yates?) to wrap it up, but didn't. Two theories why he held it open: (1) he wanted to pose as being nonpartisan; (2) he intended to use it as leverage to advance his career. McCabe authorized a leak about the pressure he received to defend himself against accusations of bring partial, and was fired for lying about it. On the whole, it's an interesting little side drama about an ambitious, flawed little man who didn't quite have the political savvy he and others imagined him to have, and did a lot of damage to himself and America as a brainless partisan schmuck in a key leadership position. - In my state, a state house or senate seat can be got for $5000; $10000-12000 if your trying unseat somebody or in a tough race. Raising $25000 would be a lot, and leave a lot left over.
- I don't doubt state house races in Virginia or the East coast are more expensive. But it still would be interesting to see how she spent it and what was leftover. $700,000 is a lot of money to spend to loose. RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 07:01, 19 April 2018 (EDT)
- I had $5,000 when I ran for state senate, but of course I lost. We haven't heard the end of this story. Here is WaPo: "Inspector general referred findings on McCabe to U.S. attorney for consideration of criminal charges." From the article, I take it Comey's testimony won't help him.
