Cocaine Medical Useage Past/Present

Is it worth mentioning that Coca cola began with small amounts of cocaine ? Markr 20:28, 16 November 2008 (EST)

Sure, especially if you can trace how much it had - and when. Also, what was the effect of that amount? --Ed Poor Talk 20:43, 16 November 2008 (EST)
Its use in Coca-Cola and other products seems like a precursor to the addictive MSG flavor additive. Can anyone make an explicit connection? -Foxtrot 04:11, 17 November 2008 (EST)
Good connection. What do we know about food additives and addiction? I'd like to see CP become more of a resource on these topics. --Ed Poor Talk 07:29, 17 November 2008 (EST)

Indeed many products, back in the early 20th Century used Cocaine as a stimulative additive, and general, over-all, tonic. --₮K/Talk 20:35, 16 November 2008 (EST)

Unencyclopedic content

The second paragraph under the section "Socially Unacceptable and Illegal" doesn't seem encyclopedic to me. It's been my impression that an encyclopedia's purpose is to present information and facts to people, not to urge people to join a cause. Dfrischknecht 17:07, 15 May 2010 (EDT)

Generally correct, Dave, but CP doesn't shy away from presenting our Christian, Conservative POV either, which sets us apart from the likes of Wikipedia which claims NPOV (Neutral Point Of View) and never actually is. As a resource originally for students, stating the facts about Cocaine, and its far-reaching damage to society as a whole, is part of our mission, IMO. If you can improve what we are trying to say there, by all means give it a whirl. I know your intentions are honorable and TerryH knows where to find you! --ṬK/Admin/Talk 17:15, 15 May 2010 (EDT)
