Doubling every 40 years

BrentH, I don't really see the relevance. The evidence is clear - major earthquakes are NOT doubling every 40 years and it doesn't much matter who says they are. There's a discussion of this and links to the statistics on the main talk page. --FindlayT 12:55, 21 September 2011 (EDT)

It's Aschlafly's website, and Karajou is a senior admin. Ask them if they think the edit should be reverted. BrentH 12:57, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
I understand why they put it in; because the reference cited does say that earthquakes are doubling. However the reference is demonstrably wrong and both DavidZa and I have demonstrated this. I'm fairly sure that once both Aschlafly and Karajou check the figures they'll agree that it should come out, as I doubt they want false information in here. --FindlayT 13:00, 21 September 2011 (EDT)
I'm pretty sceptical about that figure, but the link doesn't work anymore: it just sends me to a site where I can buy a book.Cmurphynz 05:47, 9 July 2012 (EDT)

Have earthquakes actually been increasing or just our means of detecting them? SingleChristian1 (talk) 11:35, April 6, 2024 (EDT)

Great point, and worth further investigations. But earthquakes are fairly easy to detect and so I think the answer is that earthquakes really have been increasing ... as the Second Law of Thermodynamics predicts (disorder is always increasing in the absence of intelligent intervention).--Andy Schlafly (talk) 13:25, April 6, 2024 (EDT)
