Talk:Hull
Should this page be retitled as just "Hull"? At Den Bosch (formal name 's-Hertogenbosch) the more common name is preferred - and Kingston upon Hull is used far less than 's-Hertogenbosch is, as far as I can make out.--CPalmer 07:14, 13 June 2012 (EDT)
- It's been over a week and no objections have been raised, so I'm going to go ahead and add a move template to the page.--CPalmer 11:07, 22 June 2012 (EDT)
ATTENTION ADMINISTRATOR. Please redirect the redirect. The town is known as Hull, is referred to as Hull by its natives and is under "H" in nearly every index and gazetteer I have. A major Chambers' Encyclopedia, Brewers, the Automobile Association roadmaps, Defoe's 18th century travelogue, various history books and so on. There are two "Kingston upons" in England. The other, Kingston upon Thames, a London Borough, is known simply as "Kingston".
I suppose the clincher should be that the Royal Mail recognises Hull but not Kingston upon Hull when searching for a postcode (zip code).
And Hull is quicker to type :) AlanE 01:27, 25 November 2014 (EST)
