Want an article about the fudamentalist Muslim agenda?
Just copy and merge the articles on Pat Robertson and Ann Coulter, then change their pics to some of Bin Laden, then change every mention of the word Iraq into America then change every mention of the word liberal into infidel, then change every mention of the word Muslim into Christian, then change every mention of the word terrorist into Westerner, then change every mention of the word Israel into Palestine. then change every mention of the word patriot into martyr.
Leave all of the stuff on homosexuals, women, war, traitors, etc... the way it was.
And you're article is done! MiddleMan
Removal of quotations
I realize that Coulter is the darling child of Conservapedia, and Ashcroft, being a Bush appointee, is nigh unto a saint, but the quotations from them are considered seminal examples of Islamophobia. Removing them because you're uncomfortable with how they portray Coulter and Ashcroft isn't responsible. Also, Islamophobia has nothing to Islamic aggression, it's about demonization of Muslims. I added comments from several critics of the concept or abuse of the concept. These are generally conservative critics but one British academic (Paul Johnson) who does study extremists has also criticized the use of the word. I hope this brings the article up to date. I also question a faulty citation. It references a radical Islamic lobbying group (with past support for Hamas). The link doesn't work and the group's status is in question. I suggest we remove the paragraph. JasonNYC 08:19, 13 May 2012 (EDT)
Meaning of Islam
Just a side note--I've read that the word "Islam" literally means "submission" (to Allah). A quick search of online dictionaries made no mention of the literal meaning, though. If this is true, then the literal meaning of "Islamophobia" would actually be "fear of submission." I'm not sure if that would be a particularly productive change, and do not actually have a reference to back that up at the moment. Just a thought. --DavidB4 (TALK) 18:21, 9 August 2019 (EDT)
- It's my understanding that the word "Islam" is a contraction of the phrase, "Dar al-Salaam", or "Realm of Peace" Salaam and Shalom have the same meaning in Semitic languages. Throughout it's conquest of many nations, peoples, and tongues, it may have gained the meaning "submission," but its literal translation from Arabic to English is more related to Salaam. The idea is Submission to Allah = Peace, but I'd shy away from the concept that the literal meaning is "submission." RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 20:58, 9 August 2019 (EDT)
