Talk:Main Page/Previous Conservapedia Breaking News/Archives/2013-2016

This page contains previous items on the Breaking News section of the Main Page. When the Breaking News section gets too long, the items will be moved to this page. Previously, the Breaking news section was so large, you had to scroll way down to see the Today in History section. This page will hopefully solve that problem and will also give a place to archive the previous news articles. In the future, previous days will be added. Crocoite 18:16, 30 June 2007 (EDT)

Format

I'm not sure that organising by category is a good idea. There would be many cases where an item would qualify for two different categories.

Also, I think it might be better to list them by date that they were added to (or removed from) the main page. That way, it is easy for someone who has not looked at the main page for a while (such as me having just been away for a week) to look at this page and see what the latest items are that were on the main page, something that is not really possible if they are arranged by category. Of course, one can always look at the history of the main page's template or this page, but then if you suggest looking at the history, this page is not even needed.

Good point about the categories. I have actually seen that situation, where an article could belong to several categories. Here's a solution: list similar articles by topic on one page, with categories at the bottom (like articles.) That way, you could have multiple categories at the bottom. • One could just view the history, no? Failing that, I would prefer the news items listed by date they were on the Main Page. That is clearer and more user friendly, like Philip said, if away for "X" days, one could find the news items posted by the days your were gone. Proposed changes are supposed to be posted to the Sysop page, FYI. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 03:46, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
I changed the format from topics to dates per your suggestions. How do you like it now? Crocoite 07:53, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Great. Are the dates the dates the items were added to the front page, or removed? And I think I'll go and make some formatting/layout changes. Philip J. Rayment 08:06, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
The dates are when the articles were removed. By then, the articles have had several revisions, after comments on this site. Crocoite 08:18, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Okay, I've now said so. Philip J. Rayment 08:27, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Excellent! Crocoite 08:34, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Done. Any objections to that? Philip J. Rayment 08:08, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Looks great - Thanks Philip! Crocoite 08:18, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Good. At some time in the future we will have to think about how much this page should hold. Do we make a separate page for each year, or what? But let's wait until it's getting large, then decide how much it should be limited to. Philip J. Rayment 08:27, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Separate page for each year... I think we're going to need separate pages for each month ;-) Crocoite 08:34, 3 July 2007 (EDT)
Heh, you might be right. But that's why I suggested leaving it to see how much was in it when we decided that it was full enough. Philip J. Rayment 08:58, 3 July 2007 (EDT)

Andy archived the Breaking News

Wow, I saw this and it made my day. Thanks Andy! --Crocoite 01:31, 13 July 2007 (EDT)
