UK tanker carrying Russian oil hit by Iranian-backed Houti missile. What does this say?
UK (or other Western tankers) must buy insurance from Russian firms, since it's illegal for Lloyds of London and others to insure ships carrying Russian oil. Of course, buying insurance from Russian firms also violates sanctions. And claims will be paid in rubbles or other currencies other than dollars or euros, and outside the SWIFT network.
Nice work if you can get it. "Hey, nice tanker-rig you got there. You ought to buy some of our insurance. It would be a shame if something happened to it with our Iranian-backed Houti buddies out there...". And it'll still be cheaper and more profitable than doing business with Western firms.
