The concept is a misnomer

For ease of debate, I've delineated my (--Andy Schlafly (talk) 20:29, October 7, 2023 (EDT)) responses below:

To be "pro-life" means to oppose abortion on the grounds that an unborn child is a precious human life and deserves to be protected against murder. Based on the examples given for the concept of "pro-life populism," it is clear that the approach follows an "ends justify the means" dogma, willing to compromise moral roots to achieve the result of less abortion. Let me address all of them:

the populist-based opposition to abortion is not exclusive of other arguments against it, similar to other issues such as gambling.

• "our society needs more children, an argument often made by Elon Musk;"
  • this is anti-abortion natalism, not a genuine pro-life stance—is the CCP also "pro-life populist" because it restricted abortion in a desperate failsafe to reverse its declining birthrates? I had a discussion with a friend more recently, and he naively claimed that China "cares about human life" because they more recently are curbing abortion. No—it's simply a staple of "real Communism," but that's a discussion for another day.

Both arguments can co-exist.

Both forms of arguments can stand side-by-side? Interesting overall perspective. (—LT)

• "abortion eliminates many of the great geniuses and artists and leaders of the future;"
  • this is a good point, but it rests on a premise of Leftist eugenics, not conservative moral principles—are we going to excuse abortion if the children born are affected by Down syndrome and need constant care their whole life?

that's an exaggeration about Down syndrome, many of whom hold jobs and compete in athletics; see best of the public for how ordinary people do extraordinary things.

I suppose that is a fair response to my rebuttal—mental problems can serve as a double-edged sword. In my own life experiences for instance, autistic effects have hindered my childhood social skills, and yet increased sensitivity to the world's traumas and a desire for understanding morality led me out of atheism to Christ many years ago. • "abortion causes health problems in women who are victimized by it, while falsely denying;"
  • okay, this is an excellent point, I will admit
• "oppose the corrupt abortion industry and its promotion of Leftist policies;"
  • a better argument would be to liken the abortion industry to the Ku Klux Klan for its genocide of black people

  • this is definitely true; however, one must remember that countless women continue to backslide into animalistic moral degeneracy, believing they can murder their own children, because the pro-life movement failed to educate the young generations—this is an inescapable fact

  • a somewhat fair point, though the emphasis on "natural" is rooted in pagan Hellenistic philosophy that promoted abortion during antiquity in the first place

Doubt that. The Oath of Hippocrates expressly prohibited abortion.

Interesting. Were the ancient residents of Pagan Greece divided over abortion more than Jewish-Christians assume? According to the source I listed, Hellenization increased support for abortion within ancient Jewry. (—LT)
