Tillerson clearly aligns with the globalist faction of the White House,[1][2] as seen in many of the positions he has taken. I might expand on this in the article if I get more time. --1990'sguy (talk) 18:54, 27 August 2017 (EDT)

Tillerson was appointed for one reason - to negotiate with Vladimir Putin. When Mike Flynn was ousted in February 2017, there was no more any need for Tillerson. Trump & Flynn's plan for a Russian detente was quashed, and further complicated by the Russia investigation. However Tillerson's departure was delayed til after October. With the reversal of the foreign policy Trump campaigned on, Trump's inability to seize control of US foreign policy and the intelligence community, and Trump making an accommodation with some of the deep state/globalist agenda of the intelligence community, H.R. McMaster will be the next to leave. Not for any personal reasons, but rather because McMaster is a specialist in containing a counterinsurgency, not fomenting one against Assad. What is needed now is a Plan B to weaken or remove Assad, since Obama/Hillary/Brennan's plan to use the Islamic State for that purpose failed & backfired. The weakness of Obama/Hillary/Brennan's scheme brought Russia into the region, and strengthened a Russia-Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis.

Flynn, Tillerson, and McMaster are now out, and the focus is on countering Iran & Hezbollah, undoing the Iran nuke deal, and limiting Russia & Assad's influence. Specialists in these areas are needed. What's unstated is, now that Saudi & Qatari proxies have failed (i.e. ISIS) in countering Assad, Hezbollah, and Iran, US direct involvement may be needed.
