The Tampa Bay Rays are a Major League Baseball team in the American League East Division. They are located in Tampa, Florida. The Rays play at Tropicana Field. The Rays dropped the word "Devil" from their name prior to the 2008 season.
The team has been to two World Series, losing to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in 2008 and losing 4-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020.
The team's home field is the only true "dome" stadium in Major League Baseball. Despite the team's occasional success, it ranks with Oakland and Miami for having the poorest fan support (due in large part to the stadium's location in St. Petersburg, which is difficult to access by car and the area lacks much public transit), and thus is often discussed as a relocation candidate.
First Game: March 31, 1998 vs. Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field, 6-11.
