The Gateway Pundit -- "Where hope made a comeback" -- is a conservative media news blog created by Jim Hoft. Gateway Pundit provides breaking news, commentary and hard-hitting conservative analysis. They rank well into the Top 100 conservative blogs and they are constant target of the liberal hacks at Media Matters. Gateway Pundit is based out of St. Louis, Missouri, and is featured on Kelsey Grammer's RIGHTNETWORK.
The Gateway Pundit frequently reports on important news not covered by the MSM, notably on left-wing violence in the Trump era, and is often cited in some Conservapedia pages for their accurate reporting, despite what liberal "fact-checkers" like Media Bias/Fact Check may claim otherwise about their articles' factuality.[1]
Major stories
Black Lives Matter moneylaundering
Gatewaypundit exposed Black Lives Matter as a money laundering scheme for the Democratic National Committee.[2] When you click on the “Donate” button on blacklivesmatter.com you are sent to “ActBlue”, the DNC official payment portal. ActBlue claims to be tax exempt organization and all donations to it are tax-deductable. The terms and conditions also link to ActBlue and mention “Campaign Finance Laws”.[3] When you research the expenditures of ActBlue, all of their contributions are directly going to top DNC campaigns.[4] After reaching the BLM homepage, which features a “Defund The Police” petition front and center, if a user chooses to donate, they’re rerouted to a site hosted by ActBlue. Joe Biden is a top beneficiary of the ActBlue’s fundraising efforts.[5] ActBlue contributions comprise 99.64 percent of all funds raised for the “Biden for President” entity and the total is nearly 773 times greater than the group with the second-highest donation sum. As of May 21, 2020, the organization has donated $119,253,857 to the “Biden for President” effort.[6]
Biden-Ukraine collusion scandal
Jim Hoft of the Gateway Pundit was the first to interview Andrey Telizhenko in the Ukrainian collusion sandal.[7] Teleizhenko met with CIA operative Eric Ciaramella in the Obama White House on January 19, 2016, as 2016 presidential election primaries were getting underway. Telizhenko reported that the subject of the meeting was the Obama administration putting pressure on Ukraine to kill the investigation into Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, and the company he worked for Burisma, and to find "new evidence" in a case against Paul Manafort which the FBI had already looked into in 2014 and dismissed.
2020 Voter Fraud
The Gateway Pundit was the first major, national outlet, to start reporting on irregularities and inconsistencies with the 2020 Presidential election. The first week after the November 2020 election, the Gateway Pundit was interviewing voter fraud witnesses and publishing their stories. In addition, the Gateway Pundit exclusively reported details of the 3:30AM "Biden Ballot Dump" at the TCF Center in Detroit, Michigan, where tens of thousands of late-arriving ballots showed up to be tabulated even though the ballots seemingly came from nowhere. The Gateway Pundit reported hundreds of stories related to 2020 voter fraud.
January 6th & 'American Gulag' series
The Gateway Pundit was the first media outlet to report that cops fired on protesters and were actively trying to incite the crowd to be violent. The Gateway Pundit has done the most work of any national conservative media outlet covering the January 6th defendants and helping them fundraise for their defense.
Defamation Lawsuit
On December 2, 2021, two Fulton County Georgia elections workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea Moss, filed a lawsuit against The Gateway Pundit and owner Jim Hoft. The lawsuit accused Hoft of knowingly publishing and spreading false stories saying they engaged in ballot fraud during the 2020 general election. In the lawsuit, Ruby and Moss claim Hoft perpetuated a debunked narrative, then published the stories and promoted them even after he was aware the stories had been disproven. [8] [9]
On October 12, 2024 Gatewaypundit published this legal note: "Georgia officials concluded that there was no widespread voter fraud by election workers who counted ballots at the State Farm Arena in November 2020. The results of this investigation indicate that Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss did not engage in ballot fraud or criminal misconduct while working at State Farm Arena on election night. A legal matter with this news organization and the two election workers has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties through a fair and reasonable settlement."[10]
Muskegon, Michigan Voter Fraud
The Gateway Pundit was also the first national outlet to discuss the Muskegon Voter Fraud scandal of 2020, where the far-left Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel knew about ongoing voter registration frauds happening in Muskegon related to a Democrat firm named "GBI Strategies" - the left-wing Attorney General used the 'ongoing investigation' excuse to refuse FOIA requests, refuse to turn over public documents, and otherwise suppress the story from view. The mainstream media 'debunked' this story by saying that Nessel as the Attorney General, has said there was nothing to it, so there must be nothing to it.
Bankruptcy Protection
On April 24, 2024, Jim Hoft posted a notice on The Gateway Pundit website stating, TGP Communications, the parent company of The Gateway Pundit, had decided to seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Hoft blamed ‘progressive liberal lawfare attacks’ and ‘the radical left’s efforts to silence The Gateway Pundit through censorship, de-platforming, de-banking, cut-off from advertisers, and other financial strategies’. [11]
Criticism
The Gateway Pundit is inappropriately smeared as "far-Right" by Wikipedia, which also falsely and hypocritically accuses it of being "known for publishing falsehoods and spreading hoaxes."[1] Likewise, liberal "fact-checking" website Snopes.com has falsely smeared, without evidence, the Gateway Pundit as a site that "traffics in conspiracy theories and misinformation" and ran a hit piece on the site regarding the site's organization of a recent prayer rally at the statue of St. Louis at Forest Park in St. Louis; that rally was attacked by a gang of over 100 violent and bigoted Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs, led by racist black activist and Crips gang member Terence Page, who viciously assaulted several of the rally attendees[12] and childishly mocked many others,[13] after which Snopes wrote their falsehood-filled article that told one lie after another about the events of the rally.
