The House of Medici was an Italian banking family and political dynasty that first consolidated power in the Republic of Florence.

Upper class in contemporary societies is the social class composed of people who hold the highest social status. Commonly these are the wealthiest members of society who wield the greatest political power.

Another common factor which confers a higher social status is a person's educational level.

Upper class in the United States

According to Yahoo Finance: "According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income in 2022 was $74,580. To reach the upper class in 2024, you’d typically need an income exceeding $153,000 – more than double the national median."[1]
