Yes, it's been re-org'ed again. Conversations have moved to the discussion page, this page is just the lists I'm keeping. TK, feel free still to mark up the lists as appropriate.

To anybody looking in: I don't try to claim I did all of these, I just like keeping track of the overall progress...

Also, if you're watching - I do these alphabetically, but every 100 or so I jump to a new spot, just to mix it up and avoid getting in a rut. After you categorize 20 "Johns" you want to see the letter "D", ya know?

Seems somebody with sysop privileges has been working on these - they were showing up as uncategorized pages when I found them (which is I why I needed you to fix them) but they're gone now. Thanks to whoever did it. :D Aziraphale 14:09, 30 July 2007 (EDT) <-back in black...

Self-Amusements I Need to Go Fix Later

The Joseph McCarthy Memorial Hall to Articles That Are Their Own Special Problems

So, Joseph McCarthy is not locked, but when I categorize it and then save, it fails to save my change. I've tried in both Firefox and IE7. Please try yourself. He just needs to be "category:politician" or "US Senators" (although in my opinion that category should be for current senators. Still that's a conversation for another time).

  • It is so large and bloated, it took me four attempts to slap a category on it. Do you know how to make a second page for it? Transclusion? --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 16:34, 23 July 2007 (EDT)
Well first -thanks. :) I guess if I had kept trying it would have eventually saved. C'est la vie...
As for the second page, I believe you would, for example, re-name the first page "JM (biography)" and then name another page "JM senate career" and then copy over his senate stuff to that page, and link to it. Those would still probably be large pages, so another page called "retrospective views" could be created, etc...
That said, I'm no McCarthy expert so the article editors might be better sources of suggestions. But basically, I think that's how it would work. Aziraphale 16:55, 23 July 2007 (EDT) <-am I now, or have I ever been, a member of New Kids on the Block? ANSWER THE QUESTION!

Note to whoever else watches this page...

Somebody else needs to help clean up Special:Uncategorizedpages or it will get out of hand eventually. Once I've asked people to categorize their own pages nicely, I get less willing to clean up after them. Aziraphale 12:15, 10 August 2007 (EDT)

  • Well it seems as if you have withdrawn from the project, so I will need to find someone else to help with all of this now. I was in hopes of cooperation and help with the categories, needed pages, etc. If you no longer have the time, or desire to help with this, do you have any suggestions as to others who have the technical wiki knowledge to do it? --şŷŝôρ-₮KṢρёаќǃ 01:51, 11 August 2007 (EDT)
I've withdrawn? Check my history TK, I was categorizing *today*. There aren't as many articles to be categorized. I've also contributed to the conversations in your sandbox. Not HUGELY, but I've been keeping up. Yeah, I've been lazy about doing the US -> United States. Assuming the pace around here continues to be what it has been, I imagine they'll be there this weekend or next week when I get around to them. ;) I'm sorry if you feel my level of commitment is unacceptable. You're right, I'm not terribly "committed." THIS IS MY HOBBY. That said, when the mood strikes me I'm happy to contribute my labors to the things I want to do.
If you want to take my irritation with Ed Poor telling me, essentially, that his big britches don't warrant doing the little things that are being asked of all editors (and I'd like to point out that ASchlafly considered it a faux pas when he forgot to categorize an article) for a withdrawal, that's your business. Barring a banning, I'll continue to contribute at my own pace. Sometimes it's a trickle, sometimes it isn't.
Lastly, I've got no relationship with any other editors, here or on any other related site - to give you an idea, YOU have received almost all the non-editing communication I've done here, and you know that ain't been much. So no, I can't recommend anyone else.
okay, I lied, NOW lastly - if I seem particularly irritated, my mother pulls this same crap. I make a reasonable statement that sets (in my opinion, at least) a reasonable limit on my personal boundaries, and I get the melodrama. "ooOOOoooohhhh, you're with-DRAAAAAWWWwwwwwin'. *back of hand to forehead* I think ah have th' VAY-puhs!" Aziraphale 02:59, 11 August 2007 (EDT) <-frankly my dear...
