Welcome to new powers

Congratulations on your new powers: blocking (short blocks preferred, but 5 years for clear vandals), uploading (avoiding posting news pictures without approval), overnight editing, and also database locking. Congratulations!--Aschlafly 12:14, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Wow! Thank you! Jinxmchue 12:42, 23 June 2008 (EDT)

Hollywood Values

Excellent new section - there should be plenty of material; these people never know when to shut up. And congratulations on your sysopship, too! Bugler 11:20, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

Yeah, I saw the dust up over recent edits and this section came to mind. And thanks. Jinxmchue 11:22, 24 June 2008 (EDT)

Caution

Jinxmchue, you posted PZ Myers' professor values: new section on the Talk: Main Page: [1] Since it contained profanity and lewd comments, I removed them here: [2]. In the future, you need to remove these inappropriate comments before you post to these pages. You can post the link and give a warning that it contains offensive material. Remember our audience. --DeanStalk 22:55, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

PZ Myers

I went ahead and started a new section concerning his militant anti-religion rants. I didn't want to go too far on it, though, since you had already indicated a desire to work on that yourself. Would you mind taking a look and expanding on what I have there? Thanks, --Benp 19:54, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Hello

Hi Jinxmchue. Thanks for contributing to Conservapedia. Your contributions are appreciated. HenryS 18:04, 25 July 2008 (EDT)

A friend

Not just a friend, but a cybernetic K-9 team. And BTW: the person who insulted all three of us (including Andy and myself) is now blocked, and so is his IP.

Woof! Jinxmchue 13:20, 27 July 2008 (EDT)

ASchlaflyIsRIght

If you're still around, could you take a look at his edits? Looks like a parodist to me. Thanks, --Benp 12:08, 28 July 2008 (EDT)

Will do. Thanks. Jinxmchue 12:28, 28 July 2008 (EDT)

Fixing typos

=P I'm not going to make any accusation, except request that you please copy edit me more - I have large hands but only a standard keyboard =/ 10px שועל (talk|contribs) 16:54, 28 July 2008 (EDT)

Ditto, but I have an automatic spellcheck on Firefox. *grin* Jinxmchue 20:27, 28 July 2008 (EDT)

Boy George Entry

Jinx, are you claiming that the Boy George entry is not a plagiarism of Amazon's bio here or the post on Area 555 or this post on anddontforgetit.com? Because there are entire sections of this entry that are word-for-word copies from these sites. So either this is plagiarism, or the freakiest coincidence I've ever seen. --Jareddr 12:23, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

JCane falsifying messages

Hi,

If you take a look at Karajou's talk page, you'll see that a user named JCane is making some pretty offensive posts. To make matters worse, he's doctoring existing signatures to make it look as if other posters (Bugler, specifically) were making the offensive posts. --Benp 12:29, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

I've reverted it. (Still there in history). --Toffeeman 12:36, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Insults

Hi there! I just wanted to comment on the whole 'anti-Semitic' charge. While I don't know you, I'm more than willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on that (sorry if that comes across as presumptuous)I think I can in part understand why it might have been made. On your user page it states "This user believes in the Lordship of Jesus Christ alone and that all other belief systems are forms of idolatry." The word "all" is in bold as well. I can definitely see how that could make others, especially some Jewish people, a little concerned. Please don't think that I'm trying to denigrate your beliefs, but its just that by implication, you are calling Jews (among others) idolators. Tordenvaer 14:16, 1 August 2008 (EST)

Considering what many Jews think about Christians and Jesus, I think it's certainly fair. Jinxmchue 14:33, 1 August 2008 (EDT)

Simple question (maybe)

How are you supposed to debate without talking? o.O Natebecause people listen to what I say? 14:58, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

It would help to know to what you are referring. Jinxmchue 19:48, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
"12:58, 5 August 2008 Jinxmchue (Talk | contribs | block) blocked Kroseman (Talk | contribs) with an expiry time of 3 days (account creation disabled) ‎ (Violated 90/10 rule against talk, talk, talk)"
User didn't even make 10 edits before being blocked. o.O Natebecause people listen to what I say? 19:53, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
That's who I figured you were referring to. ("That's to whom I figured...?" Sounds weird. Anyway...) I actually restrained myself from blocking that person longer. Check out his last two comments. Those weren't about debating. Those were obnoxious trolling comments. I gave him some time to think about his attitude. If he comes back in 3 days, we'll see what happens. Jinxmchue 20:08, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Hmm.. okay.
And what's with blocking Bulbasaur for "unacceptable username". Maybe you should have blocked him for "sock of banned user"--to look like less of a jerk. We had similar accounts of "Piplup" and "Ivysaur" who were vandals. Just a suggestion. o.O Natebecause people listen to what I say? 20:17, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Andy's made it pretty clear that usernames like that are not conducive to the atmosphere he wants for this site. (I can't find the spot where he stated that right now. I thought it was part of the guidelines or something.) Jinxmchue 20:41, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Laptop computer: $1000 Internet connection: $40 Rent for mom's basement: $0 Misspelling words while trying to criticize other people's intelligence: Priceless

I think you should mention that less than a minute later he fixed the error. You are right that he shouldn't make comments like that, but it is unfair for you to deliberately leave out pertinent facts. I wouldn't want you to appear dishonest. Thank you.--MCrowe 21:17, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
He shouldn't have had to made the corrections. Jinxmchue 21:26, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Well if that is what you think, fine. However you look dishonest by not including all the relevant facts. If that is the look you are going for I shall say no more.--MCrowe 21:29, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Excuse me? What is dishonest about pointing out that this mouthbreather couldn't spell the words right the first time when he was trying to criticize someone else's intelligence? Jinxmchue 21:41, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
I have said all that needs to be said. If you are unable to see what is dishonest about it, then that speaks volumes about yourself. Good luck.--MCrowe 22:15, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
You're wrong, MCrowe...it is you who refuse to see what is dishonest here. The individual in question was a user who was banned multiple times for trolling and vandalism, and Jinxmchue pointed out and highlighted the above edit which speaks volumes about AMcW's - or should I say RW user AceMcWicked's - own lack of smarts. So don't jump to conclusions here. Karajou 22:21, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Whether or not the user was a troll or not is beside the point. Jinx is seeking to make great capital out of the fact that he made a couple of spelling mistakes, but he is neglecting to state that the user himself corrected those mistakes within a minute of there posting. Jinx is attempting to make a comment on the intellectual capability of the user but is doing so without presenting all the facts. Had the misspellings been left for a period of time, then perhaps Jinx as a point, but as it is, the post of Jinx is misleading and to my mind dishonest. Your opinion may differ and I respect that, but you should also respect my opinion.--MCrowe 22:29, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
So what you're saying is pointing out the errors of a troll or vandal on this site is dishonest on our part, and not the actual attack by the troll or vandal that prompted the remark? I think you have your priorities skewed, MCrowe. Karajou 22:31, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
So what you're saying is pointing out the errors of a troll or vandal on this site is dishonest on our part, and not the actual attack by the troll or vandal that prompted the remark? I think you have your priorities skewed, MCrowe. Karajou 22:31, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
I guess part of what I am trying to say is that this pointing out of spelling errors is ridiculous, pathetic and a waste of time. It is also misleading to point out errors that were self corrected within a minute of the original posting. This is my final posting on the matter. The comments speak for themselves.--MCrowe 22:36, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
Again, the point is that the misspellings of two simple words shouldn't have happened in the first place for someone criticizing someone else's intelligence. It doesn't matter that they corrected it later. An intelligent person would have corrected the errors before submitting them and an even more intelligent person wouldn't have made them in the first place. In any case, I've grown tired of this and this discussion is now over. Thank you.Jinxmchue 22:35, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

"Examples of Bias"

Thank you very much. I used permalink because I wanted to show WP policy as of the day I edited the page. Other editors of the "EOBIW" (short for "Examples of Bias in Wikipedia") page should use permalink so that readers can better find out what's going on with the WP page in question. Now, a lot of the issues on EOBIW have been fixed over time, either by me or others. For example, the WP article on Benazir Bhutto now mentions about her being pro-life.

So far, I've worked on "merging" criticism sections on a few WP articles, and other editors approved. I hope to be able to eradicate others. --Alpnineone 22:49, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

PS: Permalink is one of the neatest features of the Wiki software, right? --Alpnineone 22:49, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Radioactivity

I'd rather like to get an explanation why you keep to erase this entry on the talk page for radioactivity? You blocked me, stating: Edit warring. Possible parodist (keeps re-adding material of interest only to mouthbreathers). Mouthbreathers? The material seems to be at least of interest to Ed Poor.

Has the radioactivity of the radioactivity page subsided?

Jinxmchue:

It seems that I may have played a role in recent events concerning you, and that you played a role in recent events concerning me. I was the one who posted the McGraw-Hill dictionary stuff on the Radioactivity talk page, that led to the edit war, block of DiEb, and the AFD tag. As far as I can tell, this was also involved in your recent public apology over the phrase "mouthbreather", which I can't figure out. Apparently some stuff at RW was involved in this; I haven't figured out the details, and probably never will. It's not important. We're trying to make a high quality educational resource, with a high quality article on radioactivity.

I was tempted to just put in the one-line McGraw-Hill definition—The giving off of energy as a result of the decay of unstable atoms— and take off the AFD tag. We really shouldn't delete the article. It is important. And we have good articles on alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. CP deserves better than what's up there. But Ed Poor might take that as an insult, and do something unhelpful. Like block me again. He already has me on "probation"—I'm trying to figure out how to get a clarification on that without setting him off. He says I am "disrupting the project", and apparently blames me for "launching right into PhD. level verbiage from the start", something I have never done and would never do. See my user page for more details on all this, and see my edits to Boolean Algebra and Boolean value for examples of how I can write understandable technical material correctly pitched for students.

"What am I getting at, and what do I want from you?" you ask. I would like you to restore the history of the radioactivity article, or otherwise make its content available to me. I don't know what was in it before, but it must have been better than what's there now. I suppose I could rewrite the page from whole cloth, describing the discovery, exponential decay and half-life, relation to quantum-mechanical uncertainty, safety issues, etc. And of course put in wikilinks to alpha decay, beta decay and gamma decay. (I think those articles are all quite good, and pitched correctly.) But seeing the original article would be a big help. And I'm totally scared off by Ed Poor.

How about if you show me, one way or another, the previous content, and I write a new article and submit it to you. If you approve of it, I'll put it up, with an edit comment indicating that it has your blessing. If it's OK, I'd like to do the actual upload, so that I will get credit for it. I am proud of my ability to write accessible math and science articles, and it is unfortunate that things have turned out so badly.

Then I want to do limits, sequences, and, of course, center (that one is tough!).

Block of IlTrovatore

Mr. Jinxmchue,

IlTrovatore asked me to apologize for some offensive edits that I made with his account a couple of months back. He says he explained the situation more fully in an email to you, but I wanted to make it clear that I regret what I did. I guess I overestimated the zealousness of some of the attitudes here, and I wanted to ask that you unblock him, as the fault was mine, not his.

--JosephG 21:31, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

Thank you. I appreciate it. --JosephG 01:00, 20 August 2008 (EDT)

An apology anyway

Thank you for your kind words, but I should still apologise - I should have realised sooner that something was amiss (although I must confess I did blow a fuse when I saw his first reply - I abhor rudeness). I am sorry for that, but as you said, no harm no foul. Still, it amazes me what some people try and do on here, purely for the sake of being malicious. --KotomiTHajimemashite! 17:59, 22 August 2008 (EDT)

Your Userboxes

You do realize that your "This user knows committers of genocide hate gun control" userbox is pro-gun control right? FernoKlumpLook at this petition! 12:10, 25 August 2008 (EDT)

There really wasn't one to balance between the two. I think some gun control is necessary. Too little gun control is as bad as too much. Jinxmchue 12:18, 25 August 2008 (EDT)
