Hello, UberSmith, and welcome to Conservapedia!
I am a contributor named DavidB4. I just want to say hello and offer any assistance you might need! Also, we have some guides which might help you get started and learn your way around if you need them.
- How to edit a website like Conservapedia - An intro on how to use Wiki code (which can be very useful if you haven't edited wikis before)
- Editor Quick Reference guide - A basic intro to how things work here
- Conservapedia's Manual of style - Extensive guide of good practices for writing and editing wiki pages
Please take a look at our rules when you get the chance. You also might want to look at the Guidelines of editing and collaborating here.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! Also we have a community portal where you can ask general questions, introduce yourself, or just comment. If you do post messages, please sign them by placing "~~~~" at the end of each one.

Covenant Christian Coalition
Did you copy the Covenant Christian Coalition page from another website? --1990'sguy (talk) 12:30, 8 February 2018 (EST)
Hi 1990'sguy, yes, some of it originally came from an old article on Wikipedia, but I updated the content substantially. It could use some improvement though like an infobox and image from Wikimedia Commons, but I don't have upload permissions since I'm a new user. I left a few notes on the article talk page. --UberSmith (talk) 12:38, 8 February 2018 (EST)
- Unfortunately, significant updates or modifications to the work of others is not enough. Unless you have written permission from the original author(s), you cannot republish their work here. You will need to write the content from scratch if it is going to be posted here under your name. As for the upload of an image, you can request that here. I do appreciate your intentions, but even using others' work as a framework for your own still constitutes plagiarism.
- This is spoken about in or rules and manual of style, which are linked to in the standard greeting which I have posted above. (This is your talk page, so feel free to remove the template. However, I suggest that you at least read through Conservapedia:Commandments.
- Thanks, and let me know if there is anything I can do to help! --David B (TALK) 13:58, 8 February 2018 (EST)
Ah, I understand the intent of your question now. Yes, most of that is my original work. Parts that were not and parts that were outdated or inaccurate, I have updated. --UberSmith (talk) 17:00, 8 February 2018 (EST)
- 1. Please read Conservapedia:Guidelines#Copying From Other Sources
- 2. Please explain this
- Yes:
- I can see that according to those guidelines I would need to rewrite some of this—bear with me as I'm completely new to Conservapedia rules. I left Wikipedia over this issue and several others. That being said, a lot of what I posted on Conservapedia is original and was not copied from Wikipedia.
- There was a very hostile Articles for Deletion nomination at Wikipedia that clearly did not follow the community guidelines. See here, specifically consensus for speedy deletion. I believe it was politically and/or religiously motivated by a single user here. That being said, there was a ridiculous sockpuppet using a couple accounts voting for keep, which changed the whole conversation and caused an admin to delete the article. However, there were several legitimate users voting keep. Most of the specific challenges raised by delete have either since been answered or were mistaken to begin with (such as sources, Google books, news coverage, etc; and the claim that this organization "represents" vs. "recognizes" various Christian groups).
Does that help answer your questions? --UberSmith (talk) 22:15, 8 February 2018 (EST)
- I think they do, though I have to point out that you were the sock (I'm not holding it against you, just so long as you don't do it here, with no exceptions). Also, I have dealt with Anselm on WP, and I have found him to be relatively sane.
- Also, is the article you created, the Gospel, your own work, or is it copied? To be clear, in case you misunderstood, you're not in trouble or anything like that. CP has rules, however, and I'm trying to make sure you're learning and following those rules. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:22, 8 February 2018 (EST)
- Yes, understood. I want to learn and respect the rules and participate here. Forgive me for not being forthright about the sock deceit. You would have every right to hold that against me—I'm a huge proponent of online anonymity and privacy rights, but I need to go about it in a better way. I do stand by the other points though and there were very specific charges in the AfD that were inaccurate or subsequently answered (as well as the issue of not following the guidelines). Also, at the time of the AfD there were few news sources, but now there are quite a few. To answer your last question, that is an original article and should successfully pass any search/check. Blessings. --UberSmith (talk) 22:48, 8 February 2018 (EST)
Advice
Hello UberSmith, when you create articles, please add categories to them and add as many wikilinks as you appropriately can, as I did here. Also, when you create new articles, I recommend adding links to those new articles in already-existing articles wherever appropriate. That way, you can incorporate your articles into CP. --1990'sguy (talk) 21:48, 10 February 2018 (EST)
- Thank you for the heads up and for improving my article! I'll make sure to add categories on new articles. --UberSmith (talk) 09:57, 12 February 2018 (EST)
