Infrastructure

Infrastructure describes the systems of support" of a society. It includes, but is not limited to, the roads, hospitals, schools, public amenities, universities, railways and other vehicles that help support a healthy or growing economy.

Some economists, such as Adam Smith argue that the supply of infrastructure is the nation state's primary purpose. For example, the food distribution system includes transportation (trucks, ships, railroad, and airplanes), warehousing (such as Amazon.com, Costco), and retail facilities (such as Wal-Mart and grocery stores) which move food from the food production system to consumers.

Infrastructure is Systems of Support

Infrastructure can be said to broadly include the following systems of support:

• Economic system
• Energy system including the Power grid
• Education system

• Law enforcement
