Jewish columnist Dennis Prager has stated that a causal factor of atheism is the "secular indoctrination of a generation."[1] Prager stated that "From elementary school through graduate school, only one way of looking at the world – the secular – is presented. For example, in Soviet Russia, despite great efforts as far as atheistic indoctrination by the Soviet government, the indoctrination efforts failed to eliminate religious belief in Russia (See also: Soviet atheism).[6][7]
After the French Revolution, France has predominantly been a secular nation with a very secular educational system.[8][9]
