Johnny Isakson, born December 28, 1944 (age 81), is a Republican United States Senator from Georgia. He is a member of six Senate committees that have jurisdiction over education, healthcare, transportation, environment, ports, foreign policy, veterans’ affairs, jobs and small businesses.
U.S. Senate
Impeachment coup against Donald Trump
While initially opposed to the impeachment coup against Donald Trump,[2] Isakson betrayed conservatives by later saying that Trump committed a "hard quid pro quo".[3] However, he retired from the Senate before the Senate impeachment vote, citing Parkinson's disease and other health issues.[4]
Political views
Mostly conservative throughout his tenure in Congress, Isakson has strongly opposed abortion, ObamaCare, and illegal immigration.[5]
