Alana Rose Mastrangelo is a former political activist, who served as a Regional Director at the youth organization Turning Point USA, from January 2016 to October 2018. She is currently a reporter at Breitbart News.

Mastrangelo was born on May 9, 1988,[1] in Cleveland, Ohio. Both of her parents are Italian-American. Mastrangelo holds dual citizenship in both the United States and Italy.

Mastrangelo received her undergraduate degree from John Carroll University, where she studied politics and history.

In 2016, Mastrangelo assisted in the creation of Professor Watchlist, a website by Turning Point USA that lists U.S. professors deemed to "discriminate against conservative students, promote anti-American values and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom."[2] After its launch, the website was criticized by members of academia, who claimed its purpose was to threaten professors.[3][4] Mastrangelo reacted by defending the watchlist, stating that the website is "helpful" for conservative students who want to "know if a professor has actually made headlines for past behavior,"[5] before signing up for classes, meaning literal headlines as the website is a media aggregation site relying solely on secondary media sources like the way Drudge Report is presented. The size of the site is such that Pennsylvania, a typical state with a fairly large population, lists only ten professors.

In February 2017, a leaked audio recording revealed Mastrangelo on a phone call with another individual discussing plans to funnel thousands of dollars into student government campaigns at Ohio State University in an attempt to help Turning Point USA replace the "liberal" students with conservatives.[6] "A Trojan Horse is the best way to put it," said Mastrangelo of the plan's logistics.[7]

In August 2018, Mastrangelo criticized New York governor Andrew Cuomo on the show Fox and Friends, calling his recent comments (replying "[America] was never that great" to President Trump's campaign slogan "Make America great again") "asinine" and stating that as a descendant of Italian immigrants, Cuomo "should know better"[1] than to make disparaging remarks about America.

Mastrangelo has been featured in Italian and French media regarding her support for former Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini.[8][9] Mastrangelo has also been featured multiple times on the popular prime time Italian television series, Piazzapulita,[10] where one of the show's frequent guests and contributors, Alex Orlowski, claimed that Salvini took away journalist Sandro Ruotolo’s police escort (which he had due to being under threat by the Italian mafia), amid Ruotolo investigating “propaganda and interference” from “the NRA and Alana Mastrangelo” in coordination with Luca Morisi, Salvini’s communications director.[11]

Mastrangelo could be considered a "Top conservative on Twitter", and notably the number of followers of her together with two of her fellow media spokesmen founder Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens of Turning Point USA grew, by far, the greatest percentage change of any conservative group outside of government with followers already over 170,000 at the beginning of 2019, on a website known to be hostile to conservatives.
