Texts
- Mark 1:8 - I [John the Baptist] indeed have baptized you with water: but he [Jesus] shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
- Acts 19:2-3 - And he [Paul] said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John's baptism.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the Holy Spirit is received at water baptism.[1]
- CCC 1999 - “infused by the Holy Spirit into our soul to heal it of sin and to sanctify it. It is the sanctifying or deifying grace received in Baptism.”
