The people of Venezuela have elected a Marxist leader called Hugo Chavez.
Venezuela is a major oil producer.
Venezuala is presently under the repressive dictatorship of Hugo Chavez who has shown a marked intollerance for fundamental human rights and has funded insurgent activity outside of Venezuala's borders. While Chavez in public criticizes capitalism, Chavez has sought to manipulate oil prices above $60 per barrel for Venezuala's largest customer, the United States.
