User:Sanity

You should mention it to a sysop before going and blanking someone's user page. Although I do agree with you that it was detrimental to Conservapedia, I believe you could have gone about it a bit smarter. Neanderthals

Thanks for the note. It is an established scientific fact that brain size does not necessarily affect intelligence; elephants have brains the size of a beach ball, with a similar structure. In the same species, however, brain size might affect intelligence, as evidenced here. However, considering the fact that evidence suggests a genetic difference large enough to merit seperate binomial classification, that argument is somewhat invalid. It has also been shown that the brain size of humans has increased over the past tens of thousands of years (or, in your case, 6,000 years), as shown here. The fact that neanderthals had brains which were significantly larger than modern humans (also a well-known fact which creationists agree upon, but if you're not convinced, it ain't too hard to dig up) would suggest intellectual superiority, if they were indeed a subgenus of Homo sapiens. • In Wiki terminology, a "sock" (short for "sockpuppet") is an account which has been created by a banned user, for the intention of circumventing the block. Are You A Liberal? Meh, No?

Hi Bohdan,

The trick with questions like this is that some people think it's absolute ("if you believe X Y Z, you are liberal / conservative") while others think it is relative ("you are to the left / right of me on X Y Z, you are liberal / conservative"). This is complicated by the fact that X, Y, and Z are different issues for different people. The most obvious example on Conservapedia seems to be Evolution vs. Creationism. The site leader has made it clear that he equates beliefs in Evolution with other things, like school prayer. Someone like me, who thinks that the evidence of Evolution is strong, but still supports prayer in school, doesn't register (typically he calls someone like this a liberal liar pretending to be a conservative to sneak into debates). In any event, getting a simple answer to your question from ONE person may be easy, but the answer will change depending on who you ask. For pete's sake, TK is willing to say that the font you use in your sig is indicative of liberalism (no, TK, you didn't say it proved anything, but it's 0% relevant and only stood to score a point).

In the end, you have to define what you are for yourself, in my opinion, or at least be defined by the community you actually live in, rather than communities you only visit such as this one.

Of course, this also begs the question "what difference does it make?" The actual important issue is where you stand on any given issue (again in my opinion), not what label gets slapped on you based on your sum of beliefs. Radicals on both sides of the aisle try to turn the common name for the other side into an insult. Ignore that, and I think you'll quickly find that your label doesn't matter to you. :) Regards, Aziraphale 14:40, 30 May 2007 (EDT)

Sorry about the X Y Z confusion, but when you related them to math you were exactly right: they're variables, meaning they can change. The point being, for you the most important issues to define someone are abortion, evolution, and school prayer, while for me they might be economic policy, foreign policy, and abortion. So when the site leader, for example, calls someone a liberal you have to know not only which issues matter, but what the liberal and conservative stances are on those issues. His definitions of those are different from mine, and mine may be different from yours, and yours may be different from . . . you get the idea.

AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnyway... long story short: asking somebody else if you're a liberal or conservative, when you've answered the question for yourself already, is an easy way to get yourself confused - which I only mention because you've said a couple times now that you've been confused by people's answers. I believe Andy should resolve the TK/Conservative issue and I also think that TK was rude to my guest LostCaesar (who everyone agrees is a valuable editor) and lately has been rude to me. If I thought the issue could be resolved privately I would have done it. I don't think this is the case, however. The blocking of tomstpete was the straw that broke the camel's back. About the "Protocols..." these have been known as a hoax almost as soon as their publishication in English in the early 20th century. They cannot be considered "classic anti-Semitism", they are more conspiracy theory (similar to "holy blood holy grail" I think). Basically I think giving the "protocols" credence by linking them with a serious problem such as anti-semitism denigrates the accuracy of the article. If you want to compare Chomsky's sayings/theories with those of the "protocols" then refer to them as a hoax - it's just more correct. In my opinion.
