Elvis Aaron Presley (1935 - 1977) was an early pioneer of Rock and Roll music. He was one of the most successful musicians of his day and appeared in many movies, most of which were largely interchangeable. His gyrating pelvis was scandalous in his day during his rise to stardom in the 1950's. He served in the army and was shattered by his mother's early death. Elvis played in Las Vegas for the last few years of his life, after having gained considerable weight from his earlier years. He died of a drug overdose.
Elvis married Priscilla Presley in 1967 and they had his only child Lisa Marie the following year. They separated after 4 1/2 years and divorced shortly thereafter.
