VoteVets.org is a left-wing United States political action committee whose stated goal is to help elect Democrat veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq War who are opposed to the Iraq War, as well as to "hold public officials accountable for the words and actions in regards to servicemembers and veterans of the aforementioned wars." The organization participates in the Americans Against Escalation in Iraq coalition. [1]
Since the VoteVets.org PAC is a front group for the Democratic Party, it regularly attacks Republcan politicians. During the 2006 mid-term elections, the group spent between $1.2 and $2 million trying to get liberal Democrats elected into office by going after numerous Republican politicans. [2] Senators targeted by the VoteVets.org campaign included: George Allen, Rick Santorum, Conrad Burns, and Jim Talent. In mid-2008, VoteVets.org began airing ads attacking Vietnam veteran and former POW Senator John McCain.
