| + | ::yes, Dirkesen and the Republicans broke with the southern Democrats on civil rights. there was no coalition in operation on that issue. Blue dogs are a more recent development and don't actually form a coalition with the GOP--they are a caucus inside the Democratic party. - yes, Dirkesen and the Republicans broke with the southern Democrats on civil rights. there was no coalition in operation on that issue.
